Golden Rays started in Madera in 2021, and we still install more solar here than anywhere else. Whether you are in town, out in Madera Ranchos on a larger lot, or anywhere across Madera County, we design and install systems built for Valley heat and orchard dust, and we are the same crew that maintains them afterwards.
Madera County has some of the heaviest pigeon pressure in the Valley, and rural properties in Madera Ranchos get it worst, with open farmland supporting far larger flocks than a suburban roof ever sees. Our bird proofing uses our own galvanized critter guard with a lifetime guarantee, fitted without drilling into your panels.
Almond and vineyard dust settles on panels in Madera faster than almost anywhere in the Central Valley, and it is worse still on the orchard side of Madera Ranchos and the outlying county. We clean with purified deionized water, no soap, and we time it around harvest so your panels are producing when it matters.

Our solar panel cleaning process is modeled exactly on what solar panel manufacturers recommend for optimal performance & safety. On our vehicles we carry a water filtration system to clean your solar panels with deionized water. It removes mineral impurities, dust & harsh smog and dries spot-free. Deionized water works far harder than normal water or cheap soap to make results last longer!
Yes! For almost every solar performance complaint, the first thing the manufacturer will ask is whether you have had them cleaned. We recommend residential homes clean a minimum of twice a year, focused on the hottest months. Commercial sites deal with harsher environmental factors and larger savings lost, so we recommend a minimum of two cleanings a year — with 3 to 4 most recommended based on size and site conditions.
Some companies price by solar panel count, others by service trip. Average solar cleaning costs range from $200–$350, but at Golden Rays Solar our pricing usually starts at just $100–$150. Many homeowners switch to us and save money, because our technicians are true professionals — not inexperienced crews going up there with window-cleaning supplies!
Birds nesting under solar panels has become a huge problem with the new age of solar-powered homes and buildings. We solve this with a combination of solar expertise & bird-control expertise. We offer all forms of bird control, but the most popular solution is commonly called Solar Bird Netting, Solar Bird Guard or wire mesh around solar panels.
Solar bird netting (also called wire mesh, bird guard or bird proofing) cost depends on several variables. The biggest is whether there is already bird activity under the panels and on the rooftop — if so, cleaning out under the panels is an additional cost. We then measure around the panels and assess accessibility. Steep roofs, panels on the roof edge, and panels scattered across multiple arrays can increase costs.
